Personal Development Archives

Have you heard about the accelerated learning curve? From birth, until the time we are about eighteen, our learning curve is dramatic; and our capacity to learn during this period is just staggering. We learn a tremendous amount very fast. We learn our language, culture, history, science, mathematics…everything!

For successful people, the accelerated learning process will continue on. But for most people only wishing for some sort of success, it levels off when they get their first job. Because for most people, if there are no more exams to take, if there are no demands placed upon them to study, then there is really no reason to read any more books. But it doesn’t have to be that way for you.

Try to imagine what would happen if you kept up an accelerated learning curve for the rest of your life… Try to imagine what MLM skills you could learn, and the capacities you would have… I ask you this because I believe success is simple, but only for that unusual person who keeps up his or her learning curve and develops an appetite for always trying to find good ideas.

One great way to find good ideas is through the writings of influential people. Maybe you can’t meet the person, but you can read his or her books. Churchill is gone, but we still have his books. Aristotle is gone, but we still have his ideas. Search libraries for books and programs. Search magazines. Search documentaries. They are full of opportunities for intellectual feasting.

In addition to reading and listening, you also need a chance to do some talking and sharing. I had many people in my life who helped me with important life questions, who assisted me in refining my own philosophy, weighing my values and pondering the questions about success and lifestyle.

We all need association with people of substance to provide influence concerning major issues such as society, money, enterprise, family, love, friendship, culture, taste, opportunity, and community. Philosophy is mostly influenced by ideas, ideas are mostly influenced by education, and education is mostly influenced by the people with whom we associate.

One of the great fortunes of my life was to be influenced over a period of five years by a man named Mr. J. Earl Shoaff. During that time he shared ideas with me at dinner, during airline flights, at business conferences, in private conversations and in groups. Those ideas enabled me to make small daily adjustments in my philosophy and activities. Those daily changes, some very slight but very important, were soon making all the difference in my life.

And a big part of the lesson was having Mr. Shoaff repeat those ideas over and over again. You just can’t hear the fundamentals too often. The repetition of good ideas are the building blocks for a well-developed mind… It’s true; with the right ideas, habits and goals, success is simple.

So remember to feed your mind just as you feed your body. Feed it with good ideas, wherever they can be found—MLM business ideas, product ideas, service ideas, ideas for personal improvement. Because every new idea will help to refine your philosophy. Your philosophy in turn will guide your life, and your life will unfold with distinction and pleasure.

To Your Success,

Although I never had the chance to meet the great Jim Rohn, he is responsible for having an immense impact on my life and is someone who I am proud to call my mentor.  I listened, read, and watched thousands of hours of Jim Rohn.  He never sat in the passenger seat of my car but was always sitting in my cd player.  I am extremely thankful to Jim Rohn for being such a huge part of my life.

Why is this topic so important and why is investing in yourself critical to your success in internet network marketing?   You see, the person that you become is far more important than what you get in this business.  What you become directly influences what you get.

This topic is so dear to my heart because once I was introduced to personal development, it changed my life and I’ll never stop investing in myself.  It is exactly what my mentor Jim Rohn says, “Success is not something you pursue, it is attracted by the person you become” and “Learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job.”   Most of what you have today you have attracted by becoming the person you are today.

Personal development is the foundation of our business and this business of personal development lasts a lifetime. We must learn and explore the depths of our true potential.    Here is a good question to ask.  If you could do better, should you?  I think almost everybody who strives for success would answer the question in the positive.  If you could improve your health, shouldn’t you do that?  If you could learn more, shouldn’t you do that?  If you could earn more, shouldn’t you do that?  If you could improve your relationships and spirituality, shouldn’t you do that?

In my opinion, that is what success is really all about.  It is not just a destination set for everybody to try and go for.   Zig Ziglar stated, “Improving in every area of your life to see if you can’t with satisfaction at the end of the day, week, month, and year say “I have made excellent progress this year, for myself, for my family, for my business, and my health.”  I think that kind of success everybody recognizes is legitimate and something we should all strive for.

Investing in yourself is critical to your success.  That is why it is imperative to refine your philosophy in order to make better choices for your business and for your life.  With a powerful personal philosophy guiding your every step, you become more aware of your choices.  It all starts with your thinking, your belief system.  Your thoughts are the primary creative forces in your life.  You are the artist of your life.  You create your attitude in which creates your actions by the way you think.  And when you change your thinking, you change your life, sometimes in seconds.

The most important principle of personal or business success is simply this: You become what you think about most of the time.  It is not what happens to you but how you think about what happens to you that determine how you feel and react.  It is not the world outside of you that dictates your circumstances or conditions; it is the world inside of you that creates the conditions of your life.

Emersion in personal development helps you outline your dreams by having your “why” always in front of you. It builds the strength of your character and improves the quality of your life while facing the challenges and obstacles on your journey to success.  Personal development is the access to your personal goals.  If you want to make millions, you must think like a millionaire.  If you want to help thousands, you must learn to affect and lead the masses.  Once you have the information, it is all about what you are willing to do to take advantage of it.

In conclusion, filling your mind with personal and professional development is the best thing you can do for your business.  If you were to start today to read the books, listen to the audio, keep a journal, attend the classes and observe your law of associations, then today would be the first day of a new life leading to a successful future in your internet network marketing business.

If you agree that investing in yourself is critical to your success, I am offering a free audio of  Jim Rohn’s Goal-Setting Workshop.  Go to the right of this page and put your name and e mail in the form to receive this powerful audio that will help make 2010 your best year!
